Reader comments: Pathfinder

I write mostly to counter the description of the film as
based on a "1,000-year-old Norwegian legend." I believe
that I am correct saying that the only thing Norwegian
about the film is the modern production of it by a multi-
cultural group which included Norwegians, and most of which
was done in Norway. The story is _not_ Norwegian, it is
Saami, also spelt Sami. I feel that Nils Gaup has a talent
for re-telling a story on film similar to that of Akira
Kurasawa. Pathfinder/Ofelas is one of the best films I've
ever seen in spite of the fact that I cannot speak Saami,
don't know what language the Tchudes were speaking, and had
to read the subtitles.
