Reader comments: Panther

Panther was a very engrossing and captivating portrayal of the black struggle. It showed that blacks were able to unify for the common good, and the ramifications of doing so. It should be mandated to see for any history related curriculum. It is American History as it is.

I must start by saying that I think the movie "Panther" was much more than a 'noble attempt' to tell the story of an organization that figures so prominently in American History. Marcus Chong's portrayal of Huey Newton was riveting and while the line between fact and fiction was occasionally blurred, I believe the movie achieved something that all the history books we are force fed during our years of white history indoctrination fail to; And that is spark dialog and fuel the desire to learn more about African-American culture and it's many unsung heroes.
