Reader comments: Fantasia 2000

My family and I really enjoyed this movie! We have four
children ages 2-10. We got to see it at an IMAX theater
out of state and finally locally and liked it both ways.
All of our children have always liked the original
Fantasia, and I think this one is even better in some
ways. The stories are fun, the music is beautiful, and
they tightened up the editing. If you felt like the
original Fantasia was sort of long-winded, you might want
to give this one a try. I didn't care for the Pines of
Rome segment as much as the rest, and I think my favorite
was Pomp and Circumstance. Donald and Daisy's story is
touching (surprise!) and also funny. I don't see how
anyone wouldn't enjoy the very clever and visually
appealing Rhapsody in Blue section. If you enjoy beautiful
music or animation, give this movie a try. If you like
both, you're in for a treat!

I think Fantasia 2000 was a dissapointment. The Antimation
was good but it didn't carry me away with the music. The
Only two exception were the Rhapsody in blue segment, which
matched perfectly with George Gershin's musical
masterpiece, and of course the wizard's Apprentice, the
only segment left from the original Fantasia. I also think
that much of the new segments are too scarry for little
kids. I would recommend buy a copy of the original
Fantasia, if it can be found, and showing it to family
menbers. I think they will get more enjoyment out of it
than this new version.
