Since 1948, thousands of Utahns have learned to ski with the Deseret News.

FOR FIRST-TIME SKIERS ONLY, ages 8 and up, the Deseret News/KSL NewsRadio Ski School offers instruction in alpine skiing.

Registration for BOTH sessions will be limited to 200 students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Skiing classes are held at Alta Ski Area on the following days:
   » Nov. 21
   » Dec. 5
   » Dec. 12

Morning sessions begin at 9:30 a.m.

Afternoon sessions begin at 1 p.m.

(subject to change depending on road or snow conditions)

The registration fee is $40 and covers all three sessions, as well as a ski lift ride as part of the last session.

Canyon Sports is offering a special package to Deseret News/KSL NewsRadio students for the entire 3 weeks of the school:

Alpine ski rentals are $34 for 3 weeks for juniors and $39 for 3 weeks for adults. Or choose $79.99 for the season for juniors and $84.99 for the season for adults.

SKIS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY

Students must provide their own transportation.

Students must provide their own equipment at each session. Students must have the proper equipment and maintain it properly each week as the instructors do not have the time nor the expertise to adjust bindings.

Snow skiing and snowboarding is an action sport in which accidents and injuries occur. I hereby release the Deseret News, KSL NewsRadio, Alta Ski Lifts Company, Snowbird, Canyon Sports Ltd., their directors, officers and employees and other agencies of all liability by reason of injuries or loss that may be sustained as a result of participation in the Deseret News/KSL NewsRadio Ski School.
   In an emergency, I authorize medical care, transportation, ski equipment rental and other care for my minor children and agree to pay for it.
