Ingredients
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
5-6 cups flour
2 cups warm buttermilk
1 tablespoon yeast, dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons oil
Directions
Mix salt, soda and baking powder with flour; set aside.
Combine warm buttermilk, yeast mixture, sugar, egg and oil.
Add enough flour mixture to make a soft dough. Let rise until double in bulk.
Pinch off some dough. Pull out or roll into 8-inch round. Fry in 400 degree oil until light brown in spots (cooks quickly) Turn to cook both sides.
Top with favorite chili hamburger mixture, chopped lettuce, tomatoes, chopped onions and grated cheese. Makes 10-12 tacos.
Each bread serving contains 113 calories; 8 gm fat; 283 mg sodium; 20 mg cholesterol.
