Ingredients

4-6 Granny Smith apples
4-6 wooden skewers
1/4 cup butter
1 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1 package (3 ounces) lime-flavored gelatin (or your favorite flavor)
Gummi worms as desired

Directions

Wash apples and dry with paper towel. Skewer each apple on stem end and chill in refrigerator.

Heat butter, corn syrup and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring to blend. Stir in gelatin until dissolved. Bring mixture to a boil. Stir constantly to keep mixture from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Cook to about 234 degrees F (at Utah altitude), or firm ball stage (drop a few drops of the syrup into a cup of cold water and form it into a ball with your fingertips.)

Remove mixture from heat and allow to cool about 5 minutes before dipping apples. Working quickly, dip and twirl each apple in the syrup, using a spatula to evenly spread the syrup. Place on parchment paper or a greased pan to cool. Press gummi worms onto apple while syrup is still sticky.
