Obituary: Edith Akers
"Mickey"
Edith (Mickey) Akers, 84, died August 4, 2004, in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born September 25, 1919, in Kellogg, Idaho to Francis and Mary Ann Bennett and relocated to Butte, Montana when she was young. Her young life was full of losses and sadness. Due to her mother's illness and family's financial condition, she had to quit school in the 10th grade to help run the Salvation Army. In 1938, she moved to California, met and married Otis "Jack" Akers in 1939, and together they had three children,
Barbara, Roberta and Jack.
She was one of the Founders Club members of Harmans Kentucky Fried Chicken. Edith was loved, respected and held in highest esteem by her family and acquaintances.
We will miss her at our family parties; in the flower garden; and at the poker table.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Bob) Evans, Washington, UT; and Roberta (Bill) Jones, Centerville, UT; grandchildren, Tim, Todd, Mike, Lorri, Scott, Russell and Shanna; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great Grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law and one brother in-law whom she loved dearly. She was extremely proud to be the matriarch of five generations. She was preceded in death by her husband "Jack" her son, Jack, her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., August 7, 2004 at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with family will be one hour prior to services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens 10600 S. 1900 E. Sandy, Utah.
The family expresses their love and thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain and Country Care for their love and care this past year.
