Obituary: Alice Marie Livingston

      1922 ~ 2004
Marie Livingston, our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, left this life on July 24, 2004, to be with her cousins in Heaven.
Marie was born on September 24, 1922 to Clyde Davies Hemsley and Alice Eugenia Hedelius, in Rexburg, Idaho, where she grew up on the family farm with her four siblings.
Growing up on a farm, Marie learned the value of work at an early age. Her mother died when she was 15 ½ , and being the oldest child, she grew up fast as she had to help run a home and raise her brothers and sisters while still a teenager. In the process, she learned many skills that helped her raise her own six children.
Following graduation from high school in Plano, she continued her education in Weiser, Idaho where she met her husband and life-long companion, Fay "R" Livingston. They were married November 7, 1942, in El Paso, Texas where Fay was in the military. They were later sealed to each other and their children in the Idaho Falls, Temple. They were married for over 60 years, celebrating their 50th Anniversary with family and friends at their current home in Kaysville, Utah.
Marie was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well as a faithful member of the LDS church (most recently being a member of the Kaysville 18th Ward), serving whenever she could in various positions.
Her love of the Savior and His gospel were the foundation of her life, and she instilled those same values in the lives of her children.
Marie served in several secretarial positions while raising her children, including 13 ½ years as the Executive Secretary to the Selective Service Board in Pendleton, Oregon. Much of time with Selective Service was during the Vietnam War. Genealogy was one of her great loves and she rarely missed family reunion or an opportunity to visit her cousins. Her family is certain she has carried on that tradition in heaven. Marie loved to travel.
She crossed the United States several times, visited Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Egypt (where she saw the great pyramids), and celebrated her 77th birthday in Armenia.
Marie is survived by her husband, Fay "R" Livingston, of Kaysville, Utah; her three daughters, Barbara Alice Dobson, Allen, Texas; Sonya Marie Bonnet, Litchfield, New Hampshire; Lea Ann Braithwaite, St. George, Utah; and her three sons, Robert Fay Livingston, Monroe, Washington; Valden P. and Laren Clyde Livingston, both of Kaysville, Utah. She is also survived by two brothers, Clyde Darrell Hemsley, Anaheim, California; and Kimball Karl Hemsley, Willard, Utah; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
