Bakemeawish.com, a national gourmet gift cake provider, launched Operation Birthday Cake to send birthday cakes to U.S. soldiers overseas. A gourmet birthday cake costs approximately $75 to send to a soldier serving overseas, and Bakemeawish.com is seeking sponsors to help defray the costs (Bakemeawish.com).

Market Street restaurants are running a Fresh, Wild Alaska Halibut Festival this month at all the restaurant's locations. Diners can enjoy various selections including Halibut Oscar, Seafood Florentine, Halibut Caesar and Halibut Louie.

Chick-fil-A recently added new options to its Kid's Meals, which include plain and chocolate milk chugs, apple juice and the company's Chick-n-Strips.

The Gluten Intolerance Group of Utah is offering a blood test for celiac disease on May 19, 8:30 a.m.-noon, at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East. The test is free to the first 500 registrants. Pre-registration, which is $18 or $16 for those who sign up to volunteer, must be done by April 30 through www.gfutah.org.

There will also be an awareness walk, "Walking Feet Without Wheat," and a breakfast of waffles, breads and pancakes made from gluten-free grains, yogurt, fruit, juices and meat. Major sponsors are Wild Oats Marketplace, Against the Grain, Blue Chip Group, Celiac Specialties, Pamela's Products and St. Mark's Hospital. There will also be gluten-free food booths.
