Obituary: Max William Salt
1935 ~ 2004
Max was the sweetest, kindest and most patient person ever. We loved him dearly and miss him terribly.
Died April 30, 2004 at the SLC Veterans Hospital (fighting for every breath) from COPD.
Parents Mark W. and Kate York Salt (both deceased). Born March 14, 1935 in Omaha, NE. Moved and raised in Berthold, ND.
He loved telling stories about himself picking potatoes and breaking out in hives, or when tilling someone's farm and the horses running away or his horse throwing him into the slew. He loved the snow drifts that came so he couldn't go to school.
He moved to Murray where he was a paper boy, they could set their watches by his delivery time and he was always happy with a nickel tip.
Worked part-time as a grocery boy, bagging and stocking.
Loved to camp and hunt, went rafting down the Colorado River twice, and got stung by a scorpion.
Went to Murray High School, then joined the Army in 1953 and served in Germany. On his second enlistment he was paralyzed in a truck rollover.
His pride and joy at one time was his riding lawn mower, and giving rides to all the children.
Max loved to talk to people, play Poker, Bingo, and play games with his children and grandchildren.
Proud of his many 50-mile swimming pins and pushing his wheelchair several miles a day.
Married Delores Snider Christensen April 2, 1960. They have three children, "Bill" Max W. (Brig) Salt, Ann K. Salt, Gerri Christensen (Keith) Roulston, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Thanks to all who cared for him at the VA Hospital.
