— LDS GENERAL CONFERENCE —

Elder Donald L. Staheli

Quorums of the Seventy

The gospel affords blessings and opportunities through obedience to its principles.
Most Latter-day Saints would say having a celestial family is the most important thing in life.
"Yet the pressures of everyday living frequently and subtly move us away from that pursuit which we so proudly proclaim."
Seemingly small acts of disobedience can result in unhappiness and regret.
"As we grow in the gospel, we learn the value of obedience to principles which consistently align us with the teachings of our Savior and prophets."
Young people dealing with peer pressure can remember President Hinckley's promise "that the Lord will not give us commandments beyond our power to observe."
Obedience to the teachings of the Savior and the prophets will qualify members to receive spiritual and temporal blessings and, one day, dwell with God.
"To the Savior's call 'Come follow me' or to His admonition 'If ye love me, keep my commandments' our response should be clear and unequivocal."
