— LDS GENERAL CONFERENCE —

President Thomas S. Monson

First Counselor, First Presidency

Priesthood holders, are you prepared for the voyage of life?
Hundreds of World War II sailors perished when the ill-fated USS Indianapolis deviated from its designated course and was placed in harm's way.
"Our journey through mortality will, at times, place us in harm's way. Is there a road map to safety? Are there those to whom we can look for help?"
      Start by choosing good friends.
"You will tend to be like them and to be found where they choose to go."
Seek parental guidance. Mothers and fathers love their children and pray for their eternal happiness.
Study the gospel, develop a yearning to know the Lord and obey the commandments.
"Make up your mind to serve God. Learn His word and follow it."
Lastly, serve with love and pray with purpose.
"Prayer is the provider of spiritual strength. Prayer is the passport of peace."
By doing these things, "we will sail safely the seas of life and arrive at home port — even the celestial kingdom of God."
