— LDS GENERAL CONFERENCE —

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

Quorum of the Twelve

A tribute was given to the modern counterparts of pioneer mothers, complete with advice for their difficult assignments.
"Mothers, we acknowledge and esteem your 'faith in every footstep.' Please know that it is worth it then, now, and forever."
While children's decisions may break a mother's heart, "no one has failed who keeps trying and keeps praying."
Rely heavily on the Savior in performing the duties of motherhood. "You are doing God's work. You are doing it well. He is blessing you, and he will bless you, even — no, especially — when your days and your nights may be most challenging.
"Like the woman who anonymously, meekly, maybe even with hesitation and embarrassment, fought her way through the crowd just to touch the hem of the Master's garment, so Christ will say to the women who worry or wonder or weep over their responsibility as mothers, 'Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.' And it will make your children whole as well."
