Wanted in Ogden

I found it on the corner of Grant and 25th Street in Ogden: a painted fiberglass horse, plastered with "wanted" posters of me and several of my Deseret News co-workers.
It's all part of the Ogden Pioneer Days 75th Anniversary Celebration, where more than 60 life-size horses, gussied up with by sponsors, are displayed all around 25th Street and Washington Boulevard.
The Deseret News sponsored a horse, and photographer Brian Nicholson rounded up some employees with Ogden ties to pose for the wanted posters
It happens that I lived in Ogden six years, and worked at McKay-Dee Hospital and the Standard-Examiner. Some of my "partners in crime" whose pictures also appear on the horse are Randy Hollis, Jared Page, Amy Joi O'Donoghue and Heidi Perry.
I'm shown with a rolling pin and chef's knife, and thre's a $4,000 reward "for the capture of Valerie 'Knife'Em' Phillips. She is armed and dangerous! Wanted for the unauthorized use of a Kitchenaid and for tearing the labels off mattresses she didn't own. Approach with caution. Last seen preparing a mysterious concoction resembling fondue."

I don't want my kids to see that poster; for $4,000 they will want to turn me in ASAP. Actually, I'd turn myself in, if I knew where I could collect the $4,000.
Not far from the Deseret News horse is the "Hooster" sponsored by Rooster's, which is a cross between a horse and a rooster, explained Kym Buttschardt, one of the owners, who sent us this picture:
Last weekend, Roosters gave away homemade root beer to people who came to stroll down the street and look at all the pretty horses.
They're going to be on display for the next couple weeks, so if you find yourself in Ogden, take a look.
Meanwhile, keep a good eye on your Kitchenaids and mattresses. I'm off to make another fondue.
