Marriage and infidelity

You've probably read the news about South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who admitted this week to an affair with a woman in Argentina.

Aside from the details of how this dalliance came to light, one thing I have found interesting about this story is the actions of his wife, Jenny.

Unlike other political spouses, she did not stand beside her husband as he admitted his infidelity during a press conference. Instead, she issued a statement about her belief in marriage and how she was working privately with her sons to heal.

Critics are applauding her for this action, but what do you think?

Do you have more respect for a woman who publicly stands beside her cheating husband or someone such as Jenny Sanford who has been supportive, but has remained in relative seclusion?

Is there ever a situation where you would not stand beside your spouse?
