Women as objects

Actress Nicole Kidman recently appeared before a U.S. congressional committee to ask for funding for programs to fight violence against women around the globe.
While presenting, she was asked if Hollywood helped "legitimize" violence against women by portraying many female characters as sex objects, or as weak.
Kidman's response: "Probably."
Interesting comment, considering she, herself, has appeared in some fairly sensual movies.
Do you agree with her? Does Hollywood glamorize sex and the subjugation of women? How do you feel about how women are portrayed in the movies?
