Jamshid Ghazi Askar is an enterprise reporter covering Values in the Media for the Deseret News.

A proud half-Iranian born in Los Angeles, Mr. Askar spent his formative years growing up in Orange County. He holds a law degree from BYU and a bachelor's degree in English from University of California, Irvine. His bylines have appeared in the Orange County Register, UC Irvine's New University, Trabuco Hills High School's Mustang Stampede, and Los Alisos Intermediate School's Hablamos. Before joining the Deseret News family in 2008, he interned for the Houston Astros. Mr. Askar works as an online instructor for BYU-Idaho and teaches continuing education classes for BYU. He resides in Utah County with his wife, three children and Heidi the wiener dog.
