Utah State head softball coach Steve Johnson announced a full competition schedule for the 2014 fall season Thursday.
The Aggies open the fall hosting Salt Lake Community College on Friday, Sept. 19, with the first pitch set for 5 p.m. The team then competes in a tournament hosted by Utah Valley on Sept. 26-28. Utah State joins UVU, BYU, SLCC, Snow College, Weber State and the College of Southern Idaho in the tournament. Games will be played against BYU, SLCC, CSI and UVU on the Utah Valley and BYU fields. The final fall tournament is the SLCC Round Robin, featuring the Aggies, Bruins and Idaho State.
"I’m excited to have a full fall schedule this year. We will be able to use these games to evaluate our new kids better and to see how our team is progressing through the fall," Johnson said. "With our new roster, there will be a lot of competition for spots so these games will be another tool to help us make decisions for the spring."
Scattered between the official tournament play, Utah State hosts three intrasquad home scrimmages. The annual Alumni Game will be held as part of the 2014 homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct. 11. The time of the game will be announced at a later date, once the kickoff time for the football game is determined. The next scrimmage is the Fall World Series, held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 22, 23 and 24. The fall season concludes with the Halloween game, a scrimmage where the team and coaching staff are in costumes.
