We all love the feeling of victory and accomplishment. As a young adult, I hear the philosophy “everyone’s a winner” all the time. Now yes, it might make us feel all warm and nice on the inside, but is this reality? Even if we don’t get the job promotion we were hoping for or the raise at work we wanted, are we still considered a winner?
Society is beginning to teach us that we’re all winners. While I don’t think it’s a bad philosophy, I don’t think it’s the truth. We don’t all win all the time. Sooner or later we will lose, it’s an unavoidable fact of life. But losing doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
Failure is a big part of what helps us learn and grow. It can hurt in the moment, but we can also use it for motivation to succeed. This teaches us effort and hard work, as well as helping expand one's strengths.
