In response to Jeanne Phillip’s article: “Maternity Fashion Reflects Pride in Pregnancy” (published in the print Deseret News on April 2): In today’s world, it is very common to see pregnant women wearing shirts that portray their stomach. This is something that I am absolutely against.
Wearing tight clothing, or a shirt with words similar to "Baby on Board" or "Hands off the Bump" is like mocking pregnancy. Don’t misunderstand me, it is truly wonderful when a woman is pregnant and I am happy for them. Indeed, it is completely fine to be proud of it, but it doesn't mean you have to advertise it.
Pregnancy is sacred. There is life growing inside and it should be protected, not shared with total strangers.
