Have you noticed the excessive soliciting happening in our neighborhoods during the spring and summer? Outside businesses are dropping off vanloads of salespeople who are unfamiliar to our community. These strangers are roaming our streets while children are outside playing. It makes parents very nervous about letting their kids outside when they see door-to-door salesmen.
They are getting more aggressive. I have seen them ignore homeowners’ requests to depart and they rarely follow the “No Soliciting” signs on many front doors. They continually pester our citizens even after we say we are not interested. If companies hire door-to-door salesmen, they need to educate them with basic skills and teach them more respect. Our cities need to enforce the rules about solicitation permits.
Finally, citizens need to unite and stop making purchases, which encourage the solicitation to continue.
