SALT LAKE CITY — Signage displaying the new Smith’s Ballpark name was installed at the Salt Lake Bees’ stadium on Friday.
Cranes and work crews mounted the 14-foot high, 28-foot wide Smith’s Ballpark sign over the home plate entrance at the corner of 1300 South and West Temple. New signs also are being hung above the first base entrance on West Temple, third base entrance on 1300 South and marquee across the street from the ballpark. The sign above the scoreboard in right field is scheduled to be installed on Monday.
On March 5, Miller Sports Properties, Salt Lake City and Smith’s Food & Drug announced a multiyear partnership that includes naming rights to the Salt Lake Bees home stadium. Beginning with the 2014 season, the stadium will officially be called Smith’s Ballpark. Along with the naming rights, Smith’s will continue to sponsor Smith’s Family Night on Monday nights, which includes four tickets and four hot dogs for $20.
The Bees open the 2014 campaign at Smith’s Ballpark with an eight-game homestand starting on April 3, against Sacramento and Fresno. All games during the opening homestand begin at 6:35 p.m.
