SALT LAKE CITY — Alec Burks missed his first game of the season Saturday.

The Utah Jazz guard sprained his left ankle at the end of Friday’s practice after stepping on a teammate’s foot, leaving him unable to go for the first time after 69 straight appearances.

Burks didn’t participate in shootaround Saturday morning and arrived at the arena for treatment that night while sporting a walking boot on his injured foot.

It’s uncertain how long the backup shooting guard will be out for the Jazz, who practice Sunday and play again Monday night at home against Detroit.

Different Jazz players have now missed a combined 79 games due to injury. Veteran Richard Jefferson, Utah’s oldest player at 33, is the only player now who’s appeared in every game.
