TOOELE — A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday evening after he was involved in a crash at a motocross race track.
Medical personnel were dispatched at 6:51 p.m. to Miller Motorsports Park, 2901 Sheep Ln., according to North Tooele County fire public information officer Ryan Willden. They assisted the park's medical crew in caring for the boy, who had crashed after attempting to go off a jump on his motorcycle.
The boy was flown in a medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital.
Willden was unable to comment on the extent of the boy's injuries or whether he was wearing safety equipment.
Willden said emergency medical teams responded to "various injuries" at Miller Motorsports Park Saturday. Riders were participating in a private event hosted by Rocky Mountain Motocross Series. Messages to RMX were not returned on Sunday.
"There are dangers associated with any sport, but motocross, in general, typically has a higher level of risk," Willden said. "Broken bones and concussions are not uncommon in motocross sports."
