Maybe it's just me, but after reading the "Foes issue political warning" (Feb. 19) article with respect to opponents against the Common Core State Standards, I do not experience any feel-good moments about the opponents or what they are threatening. Despite their apparent sincerity and devotion for their cause, fast-forwarding to the possibility that they may be successful in achieving their goal, I have serious doubts. Are these folks going to be the ones determining Utah's educational future?
I feel the same uncertainty after watching TV reality shows depicting groups arming themselves for safety and protection against perceived future threats. Are these the folks I want running around "keeping the peace?"
For me, it's not the issue being debated or what I may personally believe, but what I perceive to be the intractable positions these or other groups may take. Are they the ones I want "tending the hen house?"
