I’ll support the Utah State Legislature’s resolution to move the state prison under one condition.
The Utah State Legislature must pass a bill stating that no Utah State Legislature or public official will profit more than one thousand dollars a year from freeing up the nearly 700 acres of land currently occupied by the Utah State Prison.
I have a feeling if the Legislature passes this resolution, Representative Brad Wilson’s (R-Kaysville) legislation moving development and relocation of the prison would be dead in the water.
As John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton proclaimed, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Utah State Legislature is no exception.
