PROVIDENCE, Cache County — A snowmobiler was rescued from an avalanche in Providence Canyon on Tuesday afternoon.
The man was riding near Millville Peak with about five other snowmobilers when the slide buried him. His companions dug him out and resuscitated him after the slide. The man was conscious and breathing as rescuers worked to reach him, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson said.
Rescue crews were approaching on snowmobiles Tuesday, and the side area remained active, Peterson said. He did not know how deep the man was buried.
The man refused transport by a medical helicopter, according to the Utah Avalanche Center. The size of slide was not available. The center's website reported avalanche danger in the area was high.
