Brigham Young University sophomore Kate Hansen placed 10th in the women’s luge at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Each luger has four runs down the track; all four times are added together and the one with the lowest overall times wins.
The first two runs for the 31 competitors were Monday and the final two were Tuesday.
Hansen, 21, of La Canada, Calif., competed injured to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. She won her first World Cup event Jan. 25 in Latvia. She’s also the 2013 national champion.
Her pre-race dance routine to Beyonce’s music was noticed and commented on by the announcers.
On Wednesday, Christian Niccum will be competing in the men's doubles luge and Torah Bright is scheduled to ride in the halfpipe.
