SALT LAKE CITY — Drew Clark has been named as the new opinion editor at the Deseret News.
Clark joined the Deseret News last fall as a senior contributing editor for the newspaper's National Edition.
Clark has worked for The New York Times on the Web, the San Francisco Chronicle, and spent many years as a senior writer and editor for the National Journal Group in Washington, specializing in technology. He has also written for the Washington Post and other publications. From 2010 to 2013, he was executive director of Broadband Illinois, a statewide nonprofit group promoting the use of high-speed Internet services. Clark holds degrees from the Columbia School of Journalism and George Mason University Law School.
Clark's move allows longtime, award-winning editorial writer and columnist Jay Evensen to become the newspaper's senior editorial columnist. Evensen had been overseeing the day-to-day management of the opinion pages.
Evensen will continue to serve on the Deseret News editorial board.
With Clark's departure from the Enterprise Team, Matt Brown, another longtime writer and editor, will become an editor for the Deseret News National Edition.
