After Janna Holms' grandmother lost her ability to speak, she started writing what looked like gibberish across several notecards.
But in a recent blog post on Metafilter, which helped her decode the message, Holm’s solved the puzzle surrounding the random letters, and it’s making headlines across multiple media platforms, like Slate.com, which said the search for what the random assortment of letters meant went on for decades.
But now, finally, the message has been decoded.
After putting the letters through an online filter, Slate reported that Holms soon found her grandmother “was using the first letters of words, and that she was, in fact, writing prayers.”
