• Jan. 7 — John Swallow sworn in as Utah attorney general

• Jan. 11 — St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson accuses Swallow of being involved in a plan to bribe a U.S. senator to thwart a Federal Trade Commission investigation into Johnson's Internet marketing company

• Jan. 14 — Swallow asks U.S. Attorney's Office of Utah to investigate him in light of Johnson's allegations

• Jan. 23 — Alliance for a Better Utah files unprofessional conduct complaint with the Utah State Bar

• March 7 — Alliance for a Better Utah files petition with lieutenant governor's office alleging election law violations

• May 3 — Former state consumer protection director files ethics complaint against Swallow with Utah State Bar

• May 5 — U.S. Department of Justice Public Integrity Section takes over Swallow investigation from U.S. Attorney's Office

• Nov. 21 — Lieutenant governor's office prepares to issue report saying Swallow violated state election law

• Nov. 21 — Swallow announces his resignation effective Dec. 3
