SOUTH SALT LAKE — A Unified police officer was injured in a traffic accident while responding to a service call on Friday.

The officer was driving west with her red and blue lights and siren on when she entered the intersection of 3900 S. State and struck another vehicle, said South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Matt Budd. The other vehicle reportedly had the green light, which is why the officer entered the intersection with her lights and siren on, he said.

The officer, whose name had not been released, was taken to a local hospital in fair condition. The front end of her car suffered extensive damage. The driver in the other vehicle was not injured.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
