Utah Symphony has announced Tony Award-winning vocalist Brian Stokes Mitchell will join its first pops concert of the season Nov. 1-2.
Principal Pops conductor Jerry Steichen will direct the concerts, which will include Broadway classics such as “Some Enchanted Evening” from “South Pacific” and “Stars” from “Les Misérables” as well as a medley of George Gershwin songs. Song selections will be announced from the stage and may vary.
Mitchell has previously performed in Utah in the “Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square” concert in December 2008, which was broadcasted on PBS in December 2009.
Performances are scheduled for Nov. 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. in Abravanel Hall, located at 123 W. South Temple in Salt Lake City.
