PROVO — Provo City School District has announced that Linda Chrisman has been selected as the Utah Safety Council’s Bus Driver of the Year for the state of Utah.
The Utah Safety Council’s Awards and Recognition Program is aimed at promoting the prevention of unsafe acts by recognizing the people and organizations that demonstrate excellent safety in their work performance.
Chrisman began working for Provo City School District as a bus attendant in 1989. She became as bus driver in 1995 and, for the last eight years, she has served as the district’s driver trainer. As a certified third party tester, Linda also administers Division of Motor Vehicles driver’s license road exams for drivers seeking to obtain their commercial driver's license.
Currently, Chrisman drives special needs and Title I students to and from East Bay Post High School, Timpview High School, Provo Peaks Elementary School and Sunrise Preschool every school day.
Additionally, she trains new bus drivers while also providing monthly training for all of Provo District’s bus drivers and remedial training for drivers needing extra help. Chrisman also represents Provo in multiple state transportation committees.
