JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County parents will soon be able to have their children tracked while riding school buses.
Trustees for Teton County School District No. 1 voted recently to install software on buses that will keep track of students as they get on and off. The system from Seattle-based Zonar will read radio-frequency identification cards on the students and provide the information to the district.
The Jackson Hole Daily reports that hundreds of school districts around the country are using the bus tracking system. In Teton County, the district's transportation department says it gets dozens of calls each day from parents looking for their children.
Students will only be tracked if their parents consent.
