SALT LAKE CITY — The mother of a 2-month-old baby found alone and sleeping in a stroller was charged Wednesday with neglect.
The child was found by a jogger, who spotted the stroller parked under a tree near 260 North and A Street in the Avenues about 5:30 a.m. Monday. When she couldn't locate the baby's parents, she called police.
Jamie Dawn Todd, 32, reportedly contacted police about noon Monday looking for the baby, but after being interviewed, the mother did not have a good explanation as to why she and her child were separated, said Salt Lake police detective Veronica Montoya.
Todd was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with one count of abuse or neglect of a child, a third-degree felony, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
