SALT LAKE CITY — Former University of Utah standout Alex Jensen will join the Utah Jazz staff as director of player development, sources have confirmed.

Jensen is replacing Brad Jones, who has been promoted to full-time assistant coach in Jeff Hornacek's spot on the Jazz staff.

Jensen, a Bountiful native, was named D-League coach of the year with the Canton Charge in 2012-13. He spent four seasons as the late Rick Majerus' assistant from 2007-11 at Saint Louis University.

Jensen led Utah to the NCAA championship game in 1998.

Former Ute Johnnie Bryant is the Jazz's assistant director of player development.
