LAYTON — Layton is holding a naming contest for the water dragon at its new splash pad at Ellison Park.
The splash pad at 700 North and 2200 West is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed this summer.
It consists of a raised play structure and several ground level water elements. The raised structure includes the dragon head, with the loops and tail of the water dragon coming out of the play surface nearby.
The person who submits the winning name will receive a Surf -N-Swim Annual Family Pass. The pass is valid for one year from the date of the award and good for a family of up to five members for entry into Surf-N-Swim.
Name ideas must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14. People can submit entries by mail to Layton City Parks and Recreation, 465 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton, Utah, 84041, or online at www.laytoncity.org.
People can vote for their favorite dragon name on Layton City's Facebook page between June 17 and 19. Final winner will be determined by the Layton City Council.
