WEST JORDAN — Salt Lake County Library's annual Summer Reading Kickoff Party will be on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library's Viridian Event Center and Veterans Memorial Park, 8030 S. 1825 West.

There will be free live music, entertainers, activities, exhibitors, community partners, a giant inflatable playground, a train ride and crafts for children.

West Jordan police will be on hand, and the West Jordan Fire Department will have a fire truck and ambulance available for kids to explore.

Children can also sign up for the reading program at the party. Families are invited to bring blankets and a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park, or purchase lunch from food trucks.

Everyone can start the day with the Fun Run in the park, which includes a 5k and 10k Family Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. and a one-mile Family Walk at 9:30 a.m. The event is presented in partnership with West Jordan, and families can register for the Fun Run at WJordan.com.
