NORTH SALT LAKE — A 54-year-old man was killed Monday following a crash with two other vehicles on I-215.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Ed Michaud said the man was headed east on I-215, traveling between 80 mph and 90 mph, when his black Honda Accord rear ended another Nissan Altima about 5:20 p.m.

The Honda then crossed through the median, traveled across the westbound lanes and onto the I-215 on-ramp at Redwood Road. The Honda was then hit by a white Jeep.

After colliding with the Honda, the Jeep rolled off the right side of the on-ramp. The 49-year-old driver of the Jeep sustained serious injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center.

“We’re just fortunate the accident wasn’t more serious than it was, as the driver crossed all of the eastbound lanes coming westbound,” Michaud said.

UHP was investigating whether the driver of the Honda was impaired, he said.

“There is no suspicion on the part of the driver of the Nissan or the driver of the Jeep that there was any impairment,” Michaud said.

There were no passengers in any of the vehicles involved.
