WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman was killed in a head-on collision Thursday.
About 9:30 a.m., a Hyundai Accent driven by Erin Fritz, 28, was traveling west on 3900 South, when witnesses said she drifted into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason, said West Valley Police Sgt. Jason Hauer.
Fritz collided head-on with a Dodge Caravan at 1050 West. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Hauer said. The driver of the van, Michael Steed, 70, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.
There were no initial indications of drug or alcohol use, distracted driving or a medical condition, Hauer said. The investigation into why the woman drifted into oncoming traffic continued Thursday.
