DETROIT — Former BYU football player and recently drafted Detroit Lion Ziggy Ansah wore 3D movie glasses to the NFL draft mostly as a joke. Now Ansah is being thanked by IMAX in the form of free movie tickets for a year.
The Detroit Free Press and MLive.com are reporting Ansah received a letter from IMAX Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Brian Bonnick in which Bonnick, on behalf of IMAX corporation, gave him the opportunity to see every IMAX 3D movie released over the next year for free.
"We, at IMAX, couldn't help but notice your keen sense of style at the NFL draft his year," Bonnick's letter reads. "You made quite a fashion statement with your pair of 3D glasses. As a member of the Detroit Lions, you share our love for the color blue and we would like to add an IMAX silver lining for you -- we would love to celebrate your first year in the NFL with the opportunity to see all IMAX 3D movies on us for the next year."
Ansah made waves in both conventional and social media after donning the Real D 3D glasses for the draft. Ansah acquired the 3D glasses during the theatrical release of the movie "Thor" in 2011.
Along with Jim McMahon who was drafted No. 5 by the Chicago Bears in 1982, the 2013 overall No. 5 pick is the highest drafted player in NFL history to come from BYU.
