Three national championship trophies in three days? That could be the case for the state of Utah if BYU men's volleyball and men's rugby follow Lone Peak boys basketball, which received its trophy Thursday.

The two BYU teams aren't in uncharted territory, having won a combined five national titles between them.

The rugby club team boasts the most recent championship, having beaten Arkansas State at Rio Tinto Stadium last season. The Cougars are facing what has become a national championship rival in California, whom BYU will be playing in the title game for the seventh time in eight years.

The men's volleyball team is making its fifth appearance in the NCAA title game, though this will be the first one pitting the Cougars against fellow Mountain Pacific foe UC Irvine. A BYU win would give the Cougars their fourth national championship in 15 years.

With all the national title talk, we take a look at other Utah college national championships won over the years at the NCAA, junior college and club team levels.

The list below was compiled based on information obtained from university athletics sites, club sports Web pages and searchable news releases. If there are any national championships unintentionally omitted, feel free to send the information — along with proof of that championship — to mpetersen@deseretnews.com.

Note: Mid-century men's basketball NIT championships are included due to the nature and stature of the tournament in that time.
