VERNAL — Ashley National Forest is seeking volunteer groups consisting of between three and 25 people for several projects this summer.
The projects involve building post and rail fencing along sections of the Flume Trail in Dry Fork Canyon or at the trailhead for the Flume Trail. Another project is the clearing of vegetation along the Flume Trail to ensure safe passage for trail users.
Iron Springs Campground, located along the Red Cloud Scenic Backway, needs volunteers to assist with painting, cleanup, fixing barrier fences and installing new sections of fence in the area. Also, the forest is need of a group to assist in sign repair and painting along the Red Cloud Loop.
Volunteers also can improve sage grouse habitat and increase the survival rate of sage grouse by building and placing reflectors on wire fences in high-use habitat areas.
