Utah State gymnastics will finish the 2013 season at the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet hosted by Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. Action will begin from Centrum Arena on Saturday, March 23 at 6 p.m.
Saturday's competition will feature all six WAC teams in No. 24 Boise State, No. 13 Denver, Sacramento State, San Jose State and Utah State. There will be six rotations with two teams on a bye in each rotation. The Aggies will start the evening on a bye before floor.
Denver is leading the league in the all-around scores, as well as in all four events. Boise State is close behind in all areas except for balance beam, where San Jose State jumps to the second spot.
USU has competed against every WAC team at least once this season, with an 0-5 record. Most recently, the Aggies met Boise State at home, just falling to the Broncos 195.300-194.125.
At the conclusion of the meet, the conference will name the all-WAC honorees.
Utah State’s best finish at the WAC Championships is third, done twice. The first was in 2007 also in Cedar City, Utah, hosted by Southern Utah. The Aggies matched that finish in 2010 in Fullerton, Calif., when Cal State Fullerton hosted the meet. The Aggies hosted the WAC meet in 2006 and 2012, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Individual members of the USU gymnastics team will be competing at the NCAA North Central Regional Championships on Saturday, April 6. The location of this competition, as well as who will be attending, will be announced next week.
Live meet results will be available online through the “Live Stats” and “Watch Live” links on USU's website that will redirect to Southern Utah’s website. Live video feed will be free to fans. The live stats will only work after competition has begun. Fans can also follow @USUGymnastics on Twitter for meet information.
