STANSBURY PARK — The Stansbury Stallions and Ben Lomond Scots faced off Tuesday in their first Region 11 game of the year, with the Scots beating Stansbury 4-0 behind two goals from Victor Galindo. Sage Eastburn and Javier Zambrano also scored for Ben Lomond.
“It felt great. They beat us 1-0 last year at our home,” said Galindo. “We just had to give it back to them, and we did. We played well.”
The Scots started the game off quickly, scoring in both the fifth and sixth minutes. Galindo was able to knock the first goal in past a diving Junior Calderon, and Zambrano scored less than a minute later, putting Stansbury in a 0-2 hole early.
Although they were able to hold the Scots scoreless for most of the half, the Stallions weren’t able to answer with a score of their own, leaving the score 3-0 at the end of the first half.
Galindo scored his second goal of the afternoon on a free kick from just outside the 18 yard box in the 39th minute, just before the half, and Eastburn scored on a rebound in the 57th minute. After Calderon made a great save on a shot from Zambrano, Eastburn was left alone, and he knocked it into the back of the net to give the Scots a 4-0 lead.
Galindo had a stellar match for the Scots, scoring two goals and setting his teammates up with great passes all game long.
“I just tried to help my team any way that I can,” said Galindo. “I was very lucky to get two goals today.”
The Scots improve to 1-3 on the year, and 1-0 in Region 11. Stansbury drops to 0-2 and 0-1 in Region 11.
