TAYLORSVILLE — The Taylorsville City Council has approved an ordinance that outlines how community councils will operate in the city. There are 10 councils — two per City Council district.
Mayor Jerry Rechtenbach is looking for nominees for each community council. Anyone interested in serving or nominating someone to serve should send names and information to the mayor at email@example.com by April 5.
The community councils will meet monthly. The purpose of the community councils is to inform residents about issues affecting them and their neighborhoods and to provide them a voice with regards to city issues.
Per ordinance, the mayor will initially appoint these positions, which will serve until the end of the year.
“We need residents who have a vested interest in making their neighborhoods better,” Rechtenbach said. “These leaders will be forging the path for us on how to effectively utilize community councils.”
