SPANISH FORK — A near head-on collision Friday night on U.S. 89 left two men injured, one seriously, and shut down the highway for about one hour.
The crash happened at 8:09 p.m. near the border of Utah and Sanpete counties in snowy and slick conditions.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, a southbound car driven by William Brackett, 27, Magna, was attempting to pass a slower vehicle when it struck a northbound pickup truck.
The near head-on collision left Brackett with a broken leg and hip. He remains hospitalized at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck, Richard Kocinski, 45, of Heber, suffered cuts to his head. He has since been released from the hospital.
