The Utah Theatre Association Conference will be held Jan. 24-26, with main events taking place at Westminster College, 1840 S. 1300 East, and East High School, 840 S. 1300 East. The conference includes several workshops for students and teachers, student showcases, a keynote speech and several performances.
Student workshops cover topics from playwriting and movement to acting technique, design and stage management, while teacher workshops, which are open to all adults, encompass topics on curriculum ideas and class exercises.
Productions will take place at various high schools in Salt Lake City including Stansbury, Judge Memorial, East, Olympus and the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts, as well as Westminster College. Productions include "Noises Off!," "The Drowsy Chaperone," "Sweeney Todd," "Peter Pan," "Hairspray" and "Legally Blonde."
Registration must be completed on-site and is $85 for students, $45 for chaperones and $75 for solo educators for the full conference and $45 for one day. Time and location vary by event.
