'Tis the season: Local holiday events for everyone

Whether you enjoy walking around in the snow to see as many lights as you can, or staying warm by watching a holiday production indoors, there is something for everyone this season.

Starry, Starry Night Spectacular: This year at Gateway Mall, enjoy thousands of Christmas lights and water shows set to different holiday songs.

Holiday lights at Thanksgiving Point: Stay warm in your car and drive around thousands of lights and animated displays.

Visit Santa's reindeer: Thanksgiving Point is taking care of some of Santa's reindeer this season. Visitors will have a chance to feed the animals.

Hogle Zoo lights: The annual zoo lights will be available again.

Cost: Adults $7, children $5, seniors $5, and children 2 and under are free.

Christmas in the Nighttime Sky: Camp Floyd State Park and Lantis Fireworks and Lasers present a celebration with a visit from Santa and firework show.

Off Broadway: The comedy "Off-White Christmas" is sure to mix up what you are used to this holiday season.

Savior of the World: A musical based on the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Ballet West's The Nutcracker: Ballet West will bring in the holiday with its 57th edition of the beloved production.

“The Christmas Box” musical: The Empress Theatre is set to premiere Richard Paul Evans' beloved story, "The Christmas Box."

Draper Historic Theater's "A Christmas Carol": The classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge comes to life on stage.

Heritage Theater's "A Christmas Carol": In its 42nd season, the Heritage Theater will perform Madison Square Garden's "A Christmas Carol."

Pioneer Theatre's "A Christmas Carol”: The classic holiday tale will be told in a musical format this year.

Cost: Tickets bought in advance run from $38-$59 and $5 in addition if bought the day of the show. Kids in K-12 grades are half price on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“Christmas Around the World”: The BYU folk dance department will be performing "Christmas Around the World" with move than 200 dancers in bright, colorful costumes.

The Salt Lake Children's Choir: The traditional Christmas concert in the Cathedral of the Madeleine will include familiar and lesser-known Christmas carols.

“12 Dogs of Christmas: Great Puppy Rescue”: From screen to stage, audience members will be able to view the film and then watch a re-creation of the show's finale live on stage.

"Holiday Favorites": The Wasatch Community Symphony Orchestra will perform classic holiday songs.

Charity Event: International pianist David Glen Hatch will be performing for the Oakridge School's Christmas fundraising concert.

Piano Guys at Kingsbury Hall: Pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson have gained YouTube fame through 35 videos they have produced.

Kurt Bestor's Spectacular: The Emmy award-winning composer, Kurt Bestor, will perform several Christmas favorites.

Heber Valley Railroad: The North Pole Express train ride will include hot chocolate, music and special gifts from Santa.

Christkindlmarkt and Lantern Parade: This Is the Place Heritage Park offers a unique holiday shopping experience based off of the German Christmas markets along with the St. Martin's Lantern parade.
