Senior quarterback James Lark threw six touchdown passes, five to receiver Cody Hoffman, as the BYU Cougars trounced the New Mexico State Aggies 50-14 in Las Cruces, N.M.

Lark, starting for the first time in his career in place of Riley Nelson, completed 34-of-50 passes for 384 yards. Hoffman, who played with a separated shoulder last week at San Jose State, caught 12 passes for 182 yards. Hoffman also passed the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

New Mexico State (1-11, 0-6 WAC) jumped out to a surprising 7-0 lead after BYU's opening drive stalled and ended in a missed field goal. But the Cougars (7-5) controlled the game in the second half with Lark leading the way. He completed passes to eight different BYU receivers.

The Cougars will play in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 20.
